The First Moon Landing by Mrs Francis

I can remember the first moon landing so clearly. Everyone was so excited about it - especially as we were going to have to stay up all night! I went to my friend Linda's house and we all settled down in our sleeping bags, determined to stay awake. Linda's sister Jeanette had made special cakes with pictures of astronauts iced on the top. I can remember struggling to stay awake as for a lot of the time, nothing much seemed to be happening. Eventually, Neil Armstrong came out of the Eagle and carefully walked down the steps and we heard him say those very famous words -'This is one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind'.
